Our golden rules of sizing

  • Aim for the middle of the range. When a size is listed as a range, you'll be most comfortable if you fall closer to the middle of it, unless the product says otherwise.
  • Measure over what you'll wear. If you plan to wear a garment over a diaper or other layer, take your measurements while wearing it.
  • Try before you stock up. When trying a new brand or style, order a trial pack, a single bag or one item before buying a large quantity.

Reading Our Size Charts

Most of our size charts show the body measurements each size fits best. For products with elastic waistbands, like training pants, diaper covers and some cloth diapers, the chart shows the garment's measurements from no stretch to full stretch. Measurements are listed in both inches and centimetres. If you're unsure what a chart is showing, reach out and we'll help.

Sizing by Product

Products sized by waist and hips

Diapers, covers and training pants are sized around your lower body. Have your waist and hip measurements ready, and your leg measurement for covers.

How to measure

Use a soft fabric measuring tape. Don't have one? A piece of string, a shoelace or even dental floss works. Just mark where it meets, then lay it flat against a ruler or hard measuring tape.

Waist

Wrap the tape around your torso, just above your belly button. Keep it snug and let your stomach relax naturally.

Hips

Stand with your feet together and wrap the tape around the fullest part of your hips and butt. Check in a mirror that the tape stays level all the way around. Measuring for a diaper cover? Put on a diaper first for the best sizing results.

Leg / Thigh

Wrap the tape around the widest part of your thigh. This gives you the most accurate leg measurement.

Diaper Covers and Pants

What to measure: your waist, hips and legs. These are the most important measurements for covers.

  • Choose the size where your measurements fall closest to the middle of the range. Otherwise, the cover may be too loose or too tight.
  • If your waist and hips fall into different sizes, go with the larger size, or reach out to us for help.

Disposable Diapers

What to measure: your waist and hips.

  • Use your larger measurement. Compare your waist and hips, and size by whichever is bigger. Then choose the size whose range includes that measurement.
  • We list best fit measurements. Manufacturers often list the absolute minimum and maximum a diaper will adjust to while laid flat, which doesn't take body shape, weight or height into account. Our best fit measurements give you a more realistic starting point.
  • Looking for max fit? Max fit measurements are shown on product pages for XL only. You'll find max fit sizing for every size in our Disposable Reference Guide.

Between two sizes? Choose the size where your measurement isn't near the top of the range, since being at the top end will likely feel too tight. We also recommend trying a sample before committing to a larger purchase.

Cloth Diapers

What to measure: your waist and hips, then use our size charts to find the size they fit into most naturally.

Cloth diapers tend to be more forgiving and true to size, and their fasteners are much more durable than disposable tabs.

  • You'll be most comfortable when you're not too close to the top or bottom of a size range.
  • Every product fits a little differently, and cloth can shrink. Order one diaper and wash it a few times to check the fit before buying a large quantity.

Fit two sizes? Some cloth diapers overlap in sizing. If you fit in both, we recommend the larger size for nighttime or at home, since it's slightly bulkier, and the smaller size for daytime or when you're out.

Training Pants

What to measure: your waist and hips.

Training pants should be sized like regular underwear. You want a snug fit, but nothing too tight, as that can be uncomfortable.

The measurements we list show the pants from no stretch to maximum stretch. We recommend choosing a size where you fall in the upper half of the size range.

At the low end of a range? Please consider choosing a smaller size, as the pants may be too loose.

Products sized by chest and length

Snapsuits, Jammies and outfits are sized around your upper body. Have your chest and collarbone to crotch measurements ready.

How to measure

Diagram showing how to measure your chest and collarbone to crotch length

Use a soft fabric measuring tape. Don't have one? A piece of string, a shoelace or even dental floss works. Just mark where it meets, then lay it flat against a ruler or hard measuring tape.

Chest

Wrap the tape snugly around the fullest part of your chest, right across the nipples and under the arms.

Collarbone to crotch

Place the end of the tape at the centre of your collarbone. Run it straight down the front of your body to the bottom of your crotch, between your legs. Measure with your product in mind: if you'll wear a onesie over a diaper, put one on first for the best fit.

Snapsuits / Diaper Shirts / Bodysuits

What to measure: your chest and collarbone to crotch length. Chest is the most important, since you need to fit comfortably in the garment. For length, measure from your shoulder or collarbone down to the bottom of your crotch, over your briefs.

Based on women's T-shirt sizing. Our snapsuits, diaper shirts and bodysuits are sized like women's T-shirts, so most men will find that sizing up one size gives them a good fit. We always recommend checking the measurements to make sure you have the right size.

Rearz snapsuits come in two styles:

  • Standard snapsuits contain spandex, so they're quite stretchy and can stretch up to 4 inches.
  • Organic bodysuits are made of 100% cotton and don't have the stretch of spandex.

Between sizes? If one size fits your length better but is a little snug in the chest, we recommend going with that size in our standard snapsuits, thanks to their stretch. Organic bodysuits won't stretch to make up the difference.

Jammies

What to measure: your chest first, then keep your height and collarbone to crotch length in mind.

Because our Jammies are full footed, there are more measurements to consider, but your chest is generally the most important one.

Like our snapsuits, Jammies are made with a cotton and spandex blend that gives them a good amount of stretch. If your chest is a little bigger than a size's chest measurement, it will most likely still fit fine.

Keep length in mind. As Jammies get bigger, they also get longer. If you have a larger chest but are on the shorter side, a larger size may feel too big. Many of our customers have had theirs tailored to fit their height without much issue.

Outfits

What to measure: check the size chart on each outfit's product page for the measurements that matter most.

Sizing for outfits may vary, since they're made from a variety of different materials. Our golden rules of sizing are still a great place to start.
